EXE is overrated, WHY oh WHY Do You Persist (Smith to Neo)?
Release as ZIP for Windows, otherwise user has to unblock EXE for your file to do anything. Unfortunate that it is not full screen or resizable. Finally the most annoying thing for me is the game takes too long to react to the arrows. So you have some optimizing to do.
Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't aware of the windows issue. It's now a .zip, which should make it less annoying to download.
The new file also gets rid of the 'retro' low framerate so it should feel more responsive. There are also minor control changes to account for the faster feel.
(For anyone interested, the exact numerical changes are visible on github)
That's awesome! I wonder how difficult it would be to have the original applet running in the browser again... Assuming applets are still a thing, haven't seen one in forever.

If you play that version, the reaction time to arrows and overall handling feels great.
Still, you did it man, congrats.
But you realize the problem now.
We have two remake authors; one has the controls and handling nailed, but the levels themselves suck.
The other has excellent levels, but reaction and handling sucks.
Seems winning is a thing of the past (The original).

Hey man, I can do you one better.
I have the original 3D Mirc Jetslom jar (yes, it's originally a java game).
This can be decompiled (java decompiler) into source files which you can reference to improve your version.
You can also run it. Don't remember running the jar itself.
Rather I remember extracting it and using appletviewer with game3d.class or maingame.class

I noticed your improvements. However, the ship takes a bit of time to appear on the screen and to respond to controls.
Perhaps having the original code will help you solve that.

Nice retro 3d and challenging action!
Thanks for checking out the game!
